Motorcycle travelers looking for gear: run don't walk to your nearest magazine stand and buy the April issue of Backpacker magazine. It's the Editors' Choice Awards issue, and their team of testers have figured out what's the best of the best tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp lamps, stoves, boots, sunglasses, cameras, socks, lamps, cameras, GPS units, even the best flip flops and instant coffee for hanging out at the campsite. Not only that, but they've provided "best value" and "eco" categories plus handy charts to match you to the gear you need. So if you need gear, this is where to find the best of the best so you can pack up the most perfect kit possible for your travels. I have to admit, I'm a gear junkie, so I love Backpacker year-round for its news and reviews on "stuff," but also its destination ideas and inspirations for things to do when I get off the bike. But this issue is a must-have for anybody who's planning a road trip of any kind.

As a subscriber of Backpacker, did you know that you get a subscription to Backpacker with your membership in the American Hiking Society? AHS also puts out a quarterly magazine for hiking and trails, plus other member benefits. It’s like getting a two for one. I’ve been a member for years.
