The annual Griffith Park Sidecar Rally attracted hundreds of sidecar rigs and thousands of visitors, apparently to the displeasure of park rangers who came through with bullhorns at 11:30 announcing that the event–scheduled to close at 3pm–had ended. About half the exhibitors and visitors remained and the rangers drove through again at 1:30 to completely close the event. Visitors who arrived to catch the last our of the rally were disappointed to find only a handful of sidecarists getting dressed to ride away, some of them continuing cross-country journeys. Organizer Doug Bingham was extremely disappointed but chalked it up to growing pains, and is eager to work with the park to plan a successful 2009 rally.
