On my way to LA for the Griffith Park Sidecar Rally last weekend I drove over Pacacho Pass on Highway 152, which connects 101 and Highway 5 between Gilroy and Los Banos. The road was wet from an earlier light rain–the first California rain of the season. I kept stopping to take photos of the farms, the hills, and the lake. I remember when my family first moved to California from our  North Carolina in 1974 we all fell in love with the soft golden hills and the evergreen oak trees standing alone or in herds. I still love them.
