I went to the Sportsmen’s Expo in San Mateo today, met Ski, owner of TriQuest Motorcycles in San Jose. He was handing out brochures like crazy to hunters and fishers and boaters and campers who liked the off-road aspect of the Ural and it’s general sturdiness. He says he’s already almost out of bikes, and I’ll bet he has a backlog of orders after this weekend. Many women seemed to like the Ural, too — though the ratio of women to men was probably about 1:10 at this show. Good odds if you’re single, gals, but you have to like guys who put stuffed fish and deer heads on their walls. A bit of a tough crowd, though, for a vegetarian. 😉

  • Today I rode my Road King to a “Chili Cook-Off” at a local Harley Dealership (in St. Petersburg, Florida). The men/women ratio was much more like 50:50 and they had nice salad along with the chili. The 75 degree sunshine added to the experience. (No stuffed fish or deer heads though…)
