I was planning on riding today but it’s raining in the SF Bay Area, go figure, Friday’s hot and sunny, and the weekend it pours! 🙁 So I was catching up on my motorcycle blogs and found Sharon’s newest posts — Sojourner’s Moto Tales blog — she’s getting ready for a camping trip, a ride on her Suzuki SV650 around Lake Superior, and it started me dreaming about traveling again. I love camping. I have a bunch of gear that I’ve used for backpacking and bicycle touring, nice lightweight stuff, that’s perfect too, for motorcycling travel. I have a huge list of gear, clothing, electronics, documents, maps, and other gear that I took on my trip Around the Adriatic a few years ago, that serves as a good starting point for other trips. It was a very very warm weather ride, so I didn’t worry about the heavy duty sleeping bag, gloves, socks, and sweaters that you need here in California where it gets cold in the evenings. When I rode around the USA on my American Borders trip, I had a sidecar and took heavier gear. There was a fun thread on the Internet Sidecar Owners Klub group about it recently. Sigh…still raining. Well, I know somebody, somewhere, is enjoying a beautiful sunny riding day!
