Mostly it comes in the form of words, but maps are certainly right up there — I could study them forever. Marylaine Block published a link to this article in her weekly newsletter: How the World Really Shapes Up shows a series of computer-generated cartograms that redraw the globe
with each country’s size proportionate to its strengths or weaknesses in a whole series of categories, such as alcohol consumption, HIV, and wealth. It’s true that sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words.
