Today while I was perusing my site stats I was surprised to see a number of visitors who came from Kamat's, a website I'd found before I motorcycled through India way back in January-March, 2000. Because it was such a rich source of information on Indian culture I contacted the site owner, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He subsequently introduced me to his parents who live in India. Happily, I visited them for a few hours on my way back from Goa to Chennai. Here's the dispatch. Unfortunately it's a poor description of the visit, which was combined with a whirlwind tour of Bangalore, mostly because I needed to get my computer fixed. One of these days I will create a better site for the Indian Sunset dispatches. I got a little too creative trying to use the nascent web to its fullest capabilities, and the site is disjointed, difficult to navigate. One of these days!
But I did find this photo of floating down the river in Kerala, which does not at all convey the difficulty of getting the Enfield *into* the boat. Obviously, I've calmed down by the time this was taken.
The daily Sunset Journal is probably the most interesting to peruse. Enjoy!
