I have a love-hate relationship with motorcycle pants. Leather . . . ugh. Squeaky, not waterproof, heavy heavy heavy, can look really sexy except when the butt and the knees start sagging. I used to have a red leather jumpsuit, but I accidentally left them in Europe when I moved back to the USA. Since, I've toyed with the idea of chaps, but can't quite get myself to buy a pair. They look kinda silly, and what if I end up sliding on the asphalt on my butt? I've used armored underwear, and I have a pair of Olympia Moto Sport Cordera pants that I loved until I couldn't close that top hook, and–whoops! No more desserts, pasta, second helpings, until I love them again. Thankfully, with attention, it only took a few weeks. Actually, I've loved them for a few summers, now. (And not only because they prevent me from gaining weight.) They're breathable, armored, and make me feel cool and safe. Last week I got a pair of Firstgear Women's TPG Escape Pants and I almost can't wait for winter because they've got a zip out lining and all kinds of hi-tech features. I'll report on them after my first ride. How about your pants? Do you love them?

I’m a TALL female in the market for a good pair of pants.
Finding it hard. I’m a size 6 with a 32 inch inseam. I don’t want something that will ride up to my calves. And many stores I’ve gone to don’t have my size to even try on. So I’m leery to purchase in a catalog. Any suggestions?
I checked this out with my friend Christina Shook who is the fabulously supertall writer/photographer of Chicks on Bikes [christinashook.com/concept.html]. She says she hasn’t been a size 6 in a long long time, but “I find that being 6′ tall allows me to just wear men’s gear. No cutey styles but plenty of selection. Also, I have some from Johnson Leathers [johnsonleather.com] in San Francisco and they custom make them as well as guarantee them for life.” So there you go!
Rev’IT has an excellent talls women’s pants and they don’t ride up. I’m 5 10 with 32.5 inseam. They are appropriate for women with slim to athletic build. They would not be a good choice for women with larger thighs.
Carla, I totally get what you mean when you talk about your love-hate relationship with riding pants. After a long search for the right pants (not too hot, not too tight, not too unflattering, etc.) I got the Savannah 2 pants made by BMW. I love them so much. They’ve completely molded (as in shaped)to my body after years of touring in them. And they kept me in line on my tours; when the waist started getting too snug on a trip, I knew it was time to cut back on some of the foods of the region (not an easy think to do in France and Italy.) I finally had to cave in and replace them with the Santiago pants (also by BMW.) I think once they break in they may be my new favorite. (Softer knee pads in these.) Thanks for bringing up the subject.
I also appreciated your Quick-Change post.
