Live in BC or WA but haven't ridden NorCal yet? You should, there's only 13 less DHs and TEs in the half of CA covered in DH NorCal than in the entire state of WA (which has almost double the number that BC has).
And it's not as far away as you might think: from Portland OR (on the border of WA) it's only 282 easy-peasy, no-brain I5 mi (4.7 hours at 60mph) to the first NorCal DH, so you can quickly go from "riding like a local" in WA to doing so in NorCal (or vice versa).
