A message from Catherine Waage, Event Manager of the Lady Liberty Ride to be held Sunday, Sept 24th in NY. Put it on your calendar!

The Lady Liberty Ride is an escorted co-ed ride that supports women in motorcycling and LOVE (Leave Out ViolencE, a youth charity). The ride will leave from Hogs & Heifers in the meat packing district of NYC at 9:45am for Bear Mt. State Park. Upon returning from Bear Mt., there will be a block party at Hogs & Heifers at 1pm. The $40 registration fee includes lunch, toll, and parking at Bear Mt.

This will be the 4th annual ride. As of now, we have NYC Harley Davidson, BMW of Manhattan, Camrod Motorsports and New Rochelle Harley Davidson signed on as sponsors. We are getting another bike gifted to us from NYC HD this year. We are in discussions with BMW of Manhattan about getting a bike gifted to us right now. The other dealerships are giving us money and gifts for the raffle.

The ride this year will also be honoring a good friend who passed away this past Tuesday, July 11th, Gasper Trama from Trama Motorcycle and Auto School. Gasper taught just about everyone in NYC how to ride a bike.

We had over 500 bikes registered on the ride last year with about 150 riders who tagged along plus over 1500 paying guests at the block party. It was a huge success. We were fortunate to get a respectable amount of press last year from local radio and tv stations in addition to a full page color ad in Iron Horse Magazine again this year.

This was all to raise money for LOVE-US (Leave Out ViolencE, United States). A youth based organization in the city designed and dedicated to teaching our youth alternatives to violence. We teach them photography, Videography and writing. Both in school and after school. Our goal is to end the vicious cycle of violence in our society.

Sincerely,
Catherine Waage

  • Hi just found your site by googling S.F. morotcycling! I saw this post and encourage all to go to this ride. It is a beautiful ride…loads of people…and I have never seen NY this way (on a bike) and it is the only way to. Usually during this weekend is the big Italian feast that takes up several blocks of NY City with great street BBQs and music…. so your nightlife is great. You get to meet the real NY locals. Claudia & Michelle work really hard on this fundraiser and they are there on had with huge smiles and lots of energy after working so hard. It was memorable. This year I will not be going, every other year for me. I have posted some pics on my blog from last years ride. Have fun and like your site!!
