This three-hour tour of travel writing includes practical writing and marketing tips, details on what editors want, and solid information on how to create an online presence that attracts paid work.

  • All about editors: Getting noticed in a very crowded email in-box.
  • Photography matters: Capturing moments that enhance and sell the story.
  • Your travel blog: Bushwhacking your way to paid gigs and press trips.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Carla King is an adventure travel journalist whose solo journeys around the world are published widely in online and print. Her books include Stories from Elsewhere, the Motorcycle Misadventures series, Cycling the French Riviera, and Wild Writing Women: Stories of World Travel, which she co-authored with her writing group. Her work has appeared in Travelers’ Tales: Best Travel Writing 2011, In Search of Adventure, the San Francisco Examiner, Escape, Dive Travel Magazine, Adventure Motorcycle Magazine, Lonely Planet, and many other publications. Carla produced the award-winning Wild Writing Women online magazines and MotoSFO, a motorcycle touring guide to the San Francisco Bay Area.
