Having just experienced the delight of having two pre-cancerous dark spots on my face frozen off, I am more interested than ever in keeping my skin from getting completely wrecked — not easy when I'm riding around in the sun all day. The spots were flat, and much lighter than the spot shown in the photo below, so I hadn't even noticed them. (It's important to get a full-body check by a dermatologist every year – especially if you're of that whitish Northern European/Scandinavian descent, like I am.)
When she found the spots I complained that even though I repeatedly slather expensive sunblock on my face whenever I go outside, I still get sunburned. She responded with a grumpy harrumph and said that the FDA doesn't yet require proper UV labeling (as they do in Europe), so it's impossible to know if a product is going to be effective. Then she zapped me with liquid nitrogen.
There are only three effective products on the shelves of the American marketplace, according to my dermatologist, that contain the right ingredients to keep both harmful UVAs and UVBs out. May they keep the spots off your face.
