Today’s New York Times published a really nice article, along with a short video and slide show, titled Back to Nature, the Italian Way, by Andy Newman on agriturismo in Sardenia. When I motorcycled Italy some years ago I really enjoyed staying at farms, and they were a lot cheaper and more friendly than hotels, as you participate in family meals and might even get to do some chores like driving a tractor or milking a goat–if you want to. I particularly liked Sardenia. (See dispatches.) The roads were fabulous, as were the beaches and the hill countries. Lots of twisties. You can rent a bike on the mainland and take the  ferry over. Check it out. It’s a good article, and agrotourism is a great way for a solo traveler to go.

  • Neat! (It’s actually Sardinia, though, i instead of e.) I’ve always thought that would be a cool place to go. 🙂
Hm, I don’t have you on my reading list. That won’t do. :: fix fix fix ::
