Do you love it or hate it? Harley-Davidson MotorClothes has developed a (patent pending) helmet designed just for women, because we have unique ergonomic needs, it seems. The helmet has "a deeper cavity with a lower profile, interlocking liner to allow for a
customized fit, anti-static liner to reduce helmet hair, and pony-tail
cut out fixed lining…" Now, I’ve just got to wonder how many women are going to be running to the HD store to buy this thing. And I wonder how many men would like to protect their hairdos, too? I’d like to know — do you love it or hate it? If you’re a guy (with hair), do you want an anti-static liner and a pony-tail cut-out fixed lining, too? What do you think?

  • I find this fairly ridiculous, not to mention sexist.
I’m a guy with long hair, I plait it for riding and it’s long enough that a plait gets to the bottom of my shouderblades. I wear a standard full-face helmet because I would like my chin to be protected as well, so I wouldn’t buy that regardless, but:
Pony-tail cut-out? Could be useful, but it could also look highly silly and is of dubious practicality: My girlfriend, who has been riding for more than half her life now, doesn’t wear a normal ponytail on the bike because trying to comb the knots out after after it’s been in that draft is an exercise in pain. Anti-static liner? This would be an improvement for anyone who wasn’t actually bald, so yes, please.
How about improving base helmet design and then seeing what still needs to be done?
