Sonoma County Airport Best for California Wine Country Excursions

I've been using these rainy days to help friends from out of town plan spring  motorcycle trips in the Bay Area, especially wine country. I just found out about Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport (STS), which is located much closer to Wine Country than San Francisco. You can fly nonstop from Portland or Los Angeles on Horizon Air, then rent a motorcycle or take a tour to spend a few days or a few weeks touring, soaking, wining, and dining
your way around the area. Be sure to get the spa experience at Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga, and take the Wine Train through Napa, or hire a driver for wine tasting excursions.

If you've hired a motorcycle or taken a tour from operators in the Bay Area, I'd love to hear from you about the quality of your experience so I can share it with readers. Thanks!

  • You know I agree with D. Brent Miller…you should seriously consider starting a motorcycle tour company.
You got the experience, knowledge and obviously the Cali set… and if you can get the Governor for a publicity stunt…since he’s a rider too….you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank while offering a much needed service

  • Thanks! Though I think people are likely to join a Pashnit ride or some bigger outfit. I’ll bet that insurance and pain factor are huge with formal tour companies. Still, something to think about… Come to think of it, someone at the AMA asked me if I might co-lead a tour – maybe will bring that up with them.
