Compact Air Compressor for Motorcycle Tires: Make Your Own

Air-pump-hand
Maintaining the correct air pressure in your motorcycle tires is one of the most important things you need to do for safety (first!), proper handling and, of course, mileage. There's a good number of compact air compressors on the market, for example, Rider magazine favorably reviewed the $25 Airman Sparrow last June. But here's an article on how to make your own for about $10 (by ripping out the guts of an air pump), for you do-it-yourselfers, or those of with more time than money in the current economy.

  • I just bought a mini air compressor at Walmart for $10. It is very small, but can be a little smaller by taking the case off of it. It has a built in pressure gauge and can produce up to 200psi! That should be enough, don’t ya think? Now, all I need to do is install a power outlet on the V-Strom, or convert the cord of the compressor to alligator clips to attach to the battery when needed.
